A look forward to 2009

The beginning of a new year means resolutions and a look forward at what we expect to achieve in the new year, and as today is the first day of the new year … oh, wait. Whoopsy, I’m a month late. That’s no suprise! As I mentioned in my look back at 2008 post, I’m no stranger to procastination. I’m only a month late though, and we’re currently experienceing some of our worst weather in 6 years, so it might as well still be December or January.

So here it is, my look forward to 2009. Stuff I’m gonna do, see, buy, experience and whatever in the coming 12 (11) months. ROLLERCOASTER OF AWESOME FUNTIMES INCOMING! SIT BACK!

1. Lose weight!

Obligatory New Year’s Resolution for everyone. Lose some weight! I think I’ve probably made this one every year for the last 5 or so years, but there’s no harm in trying again! My aim for 2009 and beyond was to lose some where in the region of 70 lbs. Maybe too much for 1 year, but it would be nice to put the foundations in place. I started this at the beginning of January, and it started off well, but the end of the month has pretty much undone all the hard work due my week of holiday to celebrate the gamer’s holiday of Winter-een-mas. Which brings us to #2…

2. Play more games

I don’t play enough games. I have a so many games that I’ve bought over the last few years that I just haven’t played. Most haven’t even been opened. I want to play these games, really I do… I just don’t. I don’t know why. I get distracted by Internets and shiny objects and just never get around to playing the majority of them. Most aren’t games you can sit down with for 10-20 minutes to relax with. They need hours and hours of dedication. And that’s something I can quite easily talk myself out of doing. But no more! 2009 will be the year of the games.

3. Build some websites

Every so oftena friend or I will come up with a genius idea to make the Internet that little bit more awesome. So I write it down with the intention of working on it one day. The only problem with this system is I never do anything with these ideas. I’ve a fairly long list of projects that I want to develop, but I never actually do anything with them. That’s gonna change this year. I’m going to organise the list and prioritse things and start working on new sites asap. One of them is bound to be amazing and make me rich and famous, right?

4. Move out of my mum’s house

I still live at home. I’m 25, working full time, not exactly short of cash anymore thanks to my mad web skillz, but still I live at home with mummy. It works out well for everyone financially, but dudes need their independence. And to not commute 60 miles a day. That’s nuts and I am not a fan anymore! I might ask if I can rent the upstairs floor at work. That’ll make commuting a breeze! We’ve even got a lift! Problem solved.

That’s it for the plans for 2009. On reflection it all seems pretty tame and boring. Maybe I need to put more thought into doing something amazing. “10 ways to change the world!”. Maybe not. At least I’m a realist.

If you liked this then why not share it and help make me internet famous?
